About Mike On The Move
I’m Michael Watkins II, and I’m traveling across America one state at a time.
Right now, I’ve visited 23 out of 50 states, and my goal is to see all 50. But this project has become about more than just checking states off a list.
The more I travel, the more I realize how much there is to see right here in our own backyard. America is full of beautiful landscapes, underrated cities, historic places, local restaurants, hiking trails, small towns, major cities, and regional cultures that a lot of people never take the time to experience.
I started Mike On The Move because I believe more Americans should see the beauty of this country for themselves.
Travel does not always have to mean flying across the world, spending thousands of dollars, or planning some perfect luxury vacation. Sometimes it means taking a quick weekend trip, trying a local restaurant, hiking a trail, learning a city’s history, and seeing a place with your own eyes instead of just reading about it online.
When I visit a new place, I’m usually looking for a few things: a great hike, good local food, some history, and something that makes the destination feel different from anywhere else. I want to know what is actually worth the time, what I’d skip next time, and what made the trip memorable.
One thing travel has taught me is that every place has a story. Some cities surprise you. Some places disappoint you. Some views make the whole trip worth it. And sometimes the best part of traveling is realizing how different people live across the country, while still seeing how connected we all are.
This is not luxury travel. It’s real travel. The kind where you figure things out as you go, learn from every trip, and come home with a better understanding of the place you visited. If you want to follow the journey more closely, you can find me here:
